Devil May Cry 5 finally arrives at the end of the week and Capcom has shared a new video titled “The Story So Far” to serve as a refresher for those who either don’t remember or didn’t play the older games in the series. It’s nothing too in-depth, but it does dive into the basic premise of the series and each of the main characters, as well as some backstory involving Sparda and Mundus, the Prince of Darkness.
No spoilers here, but this new sequel might offer a few twists and turns as it brings into the fold a roster of familiar and new characters alike to battle demonic forces once more. Little is known about this latest threat just yet, but I suspect we will all be diving in by the end of the week to find out. Thankfully, we are all up to speed after the above video from Capcom.
In addition, another new trailer has surfaced, this time of the Deluxe Edition’s “Premium Live Action Cutscenes” feature, which we previously spoke about late last year. In case you need a refresher on this as well, Devil May Cry 5’s Deluxe Edition will include, among other things, an option to swap all of the game’s cinematics with their pre-viz, live-action counterparts, which are recorded in a studio to capture motion and action for the animators to use. Check it out below!
To recap, picking up the collector’s edition of Devil May Cry 5 will get you a replica model of the motor home in which our heroes take their demon slaying on the go. Also included is an art book that contains imagery from the game as well as notes from Nico's Workbench. In addition, the collector's edition includes a pin, bumper sticker, and 11" x 17" cloth print featuring our full cast of characters. Finally, it all comes in this very special box designed to look like an item trunk, matching what you might find in the game being used by series newcomer Nico.
This collector's edition is so far available for only PlayStation 4 and Xbox One players, with no PC version of this collection to be found at this time. If you're not quite ready to shell out extra money for a collector's edition of the game, you can order up the standalone regular and deluxe editions to get your demon slaying fix that way. Be sure to select your platform of choice.
Devil May Cry 5 arrives on March 8th, 2019 and will be available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
