We are deeply saddened to report that actor Scott Wilson has passed away at the age of 76. He is most recently known in horror for playing the role of Hershel Greene on The Walking Dead, but his legacy boasts a slew of memorable roles ranging from appearances in Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon, The Exorcist III, and even an episode of The Twilight Zone. His acting career spanned several decades and his loss is truly felt all across the entertainment industry.
Wilson reportedly passed away due to complications from leukemia and is survived by his wife, Heavenly. AMC has released the following statement honoring the late actor and the legacy he left behind.
[blockquote-0]News of Wilson's passing broke shortly after The Walking Dead showrunner Angela Kang announced at New York Comic Con that he would be returning for season 9 alongside Sonequa Martin-Green's Sasha and Jon Bernthal’s Shane, which was previously reported during the summer. Wilson had apparently finished filming his scenes but it is unknown if those will still be used for the upcoming season.
That is a question for another day as we take this time to fondly remember Scott Wilson as the great actor and warm, genuine man of character he truly was. Rest in peace.
