Preview: The Purge Season 2 Will Focus on the Aftermath of the Deadly Night
Another new trailer and NYCC screening and panel information have been released for the upcoming new season.
If you thought you would be safe once the ominous siren rings out signaling the end of the annual purge, you are gravely mistaken. Returning for a second season on USA, The Purge will explore an alternate perspective of the bloody yearly event. To help tide fans over until the premiere, another trailer has been released, giving more of an insight to what really goes on once the purge is done for another year. You can watch the trailer above.
Exploring the aftermath of the one night each year when all crime, including murder, is legal, the series based on the popular film franchise returns with a new cast of characters. The show will follow individual storylines, that if it stays true to the format of the first season, may all cross over at some point as the episodes play out.
Dead Entertainment has been reporting on the TV series since its debut last September. Fans of both the films and series speculate that the show takes place between the first film, The Purge, and the second, The Purge: Anarchy. The ten episodes featured the similar extreme violence that the films are known for.
In addition to this new preview spot, this year’s NYCC is also offering fans of the franchise an early screening of the first episode at its convention on October 3rd. The panel, which will be taking place between 2 and 4:30 PM in the Hammerstein Ballroom, will feature the complete first episode followed by a panel featuring franchise creator James DeMonaco and cast members Derek Luke, Paola Nunez, Joel Allen, Rochelle Aytes, James Roland, and Krystal Houghton Ziv.
Also in case you missed it, Funko has created five new collectibles featuring four from The Purge: Election Year and the waving God mask purger from The Purge: Anarchy. They are now available for pre-order right here.
Season 2 of The Purge will premiere on October 15th at 9:00 PM EST on USA Network.
