Resident Evil 2 Gets New Gameplay Previews, Artwork
The latest gameplay clips put on display new monsters, including the unstoppable Tyrant.

If yesterday's big screenshot dump wasn't a strong enough hint that more Resident Evil 2 previews were coming, then we're not sure what possibly could be. The latest batch of new videos from the upcoming remake shows off much of what we took a look at yesterday in the new screenshots, that is, scenes from later parts of the game, including the relentless pursuit of the Tyrant, known as Mr. X in the original game. The first two clips from Capcom are titled "Familiar Faces" and "Unstoppable Tyrant" respectively, alluding to what you will see in each preview.
The Tyrant is the most impressive of the reveals so far, in this writer's opinion. There is something about its relentless nature that gives a whole new meaning to survival horror, as if the dark corridors and enemies popping out of seemingly nowhere wasn't enough. On the other hand, the Leon gameplay footage introduces us to Ada a little bit more before taking us down into the sewers where the G-Virus Spawn has taken residence. All that being said, let's take a look at the new clips.
In addition, several outlets also released their own additional gameplay previews today. Have a look below at GameSpot's extended preview of Claire's campaign, featuring a hefty dose of the Tyrant.
Last up, we also have a little bit of new artwork released earlier today by Capcom, showing off a few of the main character models as well as a small handful of zombies. You can take a closer look at this new art below and read on for our recap on the release information and pre-order bonuses for the title.
[relatedArticle-0]In case you missed it, you can find a recap of the game's bonus content below, including a look at the deluxe edition, which features additional costumes, reversible slipcover artwork, a special weapon, and even a throwback to the original game’s soundtrack. All pre-orders will also include the classic Jill and Chris models of the Samurai Edge handgun.
The most interesting bonus costume for the deluxe edition, in our opinion, is Claire’s "Elza Walker" outfit. Long-time fans of the series may remember this name and look from the unreleased beta version of Resident Evil 2, dubbed Resident Evil 1.5 by fans. Back then, the game was far along in development before the concept was scrapped and Capcom settled on the classic game we all know and love, which is, of course, the one now being remade.
Claire also has a military outfit while she and Leon both have a special "Noir" costume. The latter very much gives us a vibe for The Evil Within. Leon's other bonus costume, the "Arklay Sheriff" outfit, pays homage to The Walking Dead and gives our rookie police officer the more polished look of Rick Grimes.
Also included in the deluxe edition is Albert Wesker's Samurai Edge, which seems to always make an appearance in newer Resident Evil games, a reversible slipcover featuring Leon on one side and Claire on the other, and finally, a retro soundtrack swap that allows you play through this remake while listening to the classic ambience of the original game
Resident Evil 2 arrives on January 25th, 2019 and will be available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
