Brett and Drew Pierce’s The Wretched will see a 2020 release courtesy of IFC Midnight, Deadline reports. The horror feature comes from the duo behind Deadheads and recently made its premiere at the Fantasia Film Festival. The new deal covers the North American distribution rights to the film.

The Wretched is about a defiant teenage boy struggling with his parent’s imminent divorce who is facing off with a thousand-year-old witch living beneath the skin of the woman next door.

Written and directed by Brett Piece and Drew Pierce, the film stars John-Paul Howard, Piper Curda, Azie Tesfai, Zarah Mahler, Kevin Bigley, and Jamison Jones, with production duties falling upon Chang Tseng and Ed Polgardy. Special effects were handled by Erik Porn, who has worked on AMC’s Fear the Walking Dead. The movie is set for release sometime in 2020.
