Is a Zombieland Sequel Coming in Late 2019?

The sequel might start filming at the beginning of next year.

It's been nearly 10 years since we sat down in theaters for Zombieland and screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick have been busy since then, to say the least. Take their work on Deadpool, for example, and its follow-up Deadpool 2, which hits theaters this weekend. Now, the duo tells Vulture that they're itching to get to work on Zombieland 2. This is some surprising and exciting news!

"We’re going on the tenth anniversary of Zombieland," Wernick said. "Zombieland came out October of 2009. We don’t know what you get someone for their tenth anniversary, but it may be a Zombieland 2." With these hints in tow, the writer got a bit less subtle by revealing that they want to start filming early 2019 with a release around October of the same year. The original cast would also be returning for the sequel, Wernick revealed.

This is as good of a confirmation as we're going to get! It looks like we can expect to see Zombieland 2 before the end of next year. Are you ready to return to Zombieland? Sound off below.
