Watch the Opening Scene of George R. R. Martin's Nightflyers

Here's an early preview of the show being described as "Psycho in space."

The upcoming SYFY television adaptation of Game of Thrones author George R. R. Martin's 1980 novella, Nightflyers, is quickly approaching its December release and the network has decided to build some hype by releasing the show's opening scene ahead of time. The clip, which can be watched above, runs at about 5 minutes in length and gives viewers a taste of what kind of brutal situations our characters might be facing in the dark void of outer space.

In Nightflyers, the world is dying and humanity puts its hopes in the hands of a crew tasked with embarking on a mission to make contact with a mysterious alien life form towards the edge of the solar system. They set out aboard the Nightflyer, the most advanced ship ever created, before the journey takes a dark turn away from science-fiction and into psychological horror.

Nightflyers will premiere on SYFY early next month with a somewhat unusual airing schedule, likely because the network wants to take a different, possibly more immersive approach to the show. The first five episodes will air from Sunday, December 2nd through Thursday, December 6th while show returns a couple of days later with the remaining five. Those will air from Sunday, December 9th through Thursday, December 13th, putting a cap on the series' first season. It remains to be seen if it will be picked up for a second but we will keep you posted with all of the latest here on Dead Entertainment.
