Teaser Trailer for The Outsider Offers First Look at HBO’s Upcoming Stephen King Adaptation

Stephen King’s 2018 novel The Outsider is a story that was fast-tracked to television after being picked up by HBO late last year and this week brought us the first teaser trailer for this effort. As we reported yesterday, the series is set to premiere on Sunday, January 12th with its first two episodes beginning at 9:00 PM eastern time. We have all the key details on the show for you below, but for now you can give the first teaser a watch by checking out the video embedded above!

The series stars Ben Mendelsohn (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) as Ralph Anderson and Cynthia Erivo (Bad Times at the El Royale) as Holly Gibney. Richard Price serves as series writer and executive producer, along with director/executive producer Andrew Bernstein and director/producer Jack Bender (Mr. Mercedes), In addition to his duties as executive producer and in an undisclosed acting role, Jason Bateman (Arrested Development) will direct the first two episodes of the series.

Additional cast members include Bill Camp (12 Years a Slave, Jason Bourne) as Howie Gold, Mare Winningham (St. Elmo’s Fire) as Jeannie Anderson, Paddy Considine as Claude Bolton, Julianne Nicholson as Mercy Maitland, Yul Vasquez (Bad Boys II) as Yunis Sablo, Jeremy Bobb as Alec Pelley, and Marc Menchaca (Ozark) as Jack Hoskins. In recurring roles are Hettienne Park (Hannibal) as Tomica Collins, Michael Esper as Bill Samuels, Derek Cecil (House of Cards) as Andy Katcavage, and Max Beesley (Suits) as Seale Bolton.

The Outsider follows the investigation of the gruesome murder of a local boy and the mysterious force surrounding the case, with police detective Ralph Anderson searching for answers. The horrifying crime and his own personal difficulties  lead him to enlist the help of unorthodox private investigator Holly Gibney, whose uncanny abilities may help explain the unexplainable.
