Snap Those Fingers, Because The Addams Family is Back!

The upcoming animated movie arrives this Halloween and the first teaser trailer is here.

There is something about The Addams Family that makes most horror fans smile. The melodic blend of quirky macabre characters who mean well and just want to enjoy life in their own bizarre way was always so fascinating to follow. Many incarnations of the family have come and gone since they first hit the pages of The New Yorker in 1938, but what we are receiving in this new animated film seems to be the closest representation, looks-wise, to when they debuted. The teaser trailer above is our first look at the family gathered together in an all-new animated style for the big screen.

The cast is nothing short of spectacular, though I do have my reservations on Oscar Isaac voicing Gomez. Thankfully, he has a great cast to support him with Charlize Theron as Morticia, Chloe Grace Mortez as Wednesday, Finn Wolfhard as Pugsley, Nick Kroll as Uncle Fester, and probably my favorite casting in Bette Midler as Grandma. The character designs in the trailer are extremely true to the original depictions of Charles Addams and that should make long-time fans of the series very pleased.

With so many renditions of the family over the years, who are some of your favorite portrayals? While very partial to the original series, I feel like no one captured the dignified absurdity of Gomez quite like Raul Julia did, but this teaser gives us hope that this family from the 1930’s still has life.
