Official Trailer for Gretel & Hansel Teases a Darker Fairy Tale
Filmmaker Osgood Perkins has reimagined the classic Brothers Grimm story as more of a horrific nightmare.

Gretel & Hansel is not the classic fairy tale you grew up reading. From filmmaker Osgood Perkins comes a nightmarish take on the tale of a not-so-friendly witch luring two siblings to her home with the intention of eating them. It’s already a pretty grim tale but adding a darker horror spin to a story is never a bad idea. Give the official trailer a watch above!
The story of the film mirrors the Brothers Grimm fairy tale to some extent, following a young girl and her brother who enter a dark wood in desperate search of food and work, only to stumble upon a nexus of terrifying evil. Starring is Sophia Lillis, Sammy Leakey, Alice Krige, Charles Babalola, and Jessica De Gouw.
Gretel & Hansel is directed by Osgood Perkins based on a script from Bob Hayes. The movie will arrive in theaters on January 31st, 2020, courtesy of Orion Pictures.
