Although we have already received a final trailer for the upcoming superhero horror feature, Brightburn, Sony Pictures has done something a little different with the release of a special “Motion Comic” to take fans into the mind of the film’s titular villain. This animated trailer captures the horrific story of the character quite well, teasing the arrival of something much more sinister than the likes of your everyday heroic figure with superpowers.
The James Gunn-produced Brightburn begs an important question. What might the world look like if the young boy who crash-landed on Earth and would later go on to become humanity’s savior, Superman, chose the alternate path of offering mankind death and destruction instead? The answer looks pretty grim, by all accounts.
The film comes from The Hive director David Yarovesky from a script penned by Gunn’s younger brother, Brian Gunn, and cousin, Mark Gunn. Starring is Elizabeth Banks (Slither, The Hunger Games), David Denman (Outcast, True Detective), and Jackson A. Dunn (Avengers: Endgame, Shameless) as the film’s titular supervillian. Brightburn arrives in theaters this Friday, May 24th, 2019.
